Find your feet at the new HANDBAGS AND HEELS
dance classes
Nobody will leave baby in the corner once she has attended the latest sensation
taking place every Friday at the Dance @ Nikki Webster performing arts studio.
Juggling handbags, heels and cocktails on the dance floor was challenging until
Handbags and Heels dance classes emerged. Director Nikki Webster introduced the
classes to teach women how to feel comfortable and confident when they dance
with their handbags, instead of placing them perilously on the ground. “I would often
see women around me struggling to move fluidly and thought it would be a great
idea to demonstrate easy to follow dance movements with a handbag” says
Webster.
Handbags and Heels classes are an innovative concept and great opportunity to
meet new people and ease into the weekend. The 1-hour $20 class is offered to
groups of women every Friday at 5.30pm and teaches the techniques for dancing in a
nightclub with confidence. Webster says “the classes are all about trying out moves
you were always embarrassed to try in a women-only setting.”
Students are required to be over the age of 18 and bring the heels and handbag they
would wear on a night out dancing. Dance @ Nikki Webster provides a glass of
champagne on arrival and plays current music to recreate a nightclub environment.
“The classes are a fun way to spend a late afternoon with friends and are becoming
increasingly popular with hens nights” says Webster. Transport can be arranged on
completion of the class to the Sydney CBD especially for those wanting to put their
newly learnt moves into action.
Dance @ Nikki Webster opened on May 3, 2008 and is Australia’s premier performing
arts school founded by Nikki Webster and her older brother Scott. The school is
located at 218 – 220 Parramatta Road, Stanmore and offers a wide range of classes
for all age groups including jazz, tap, ballet, hip Hop, funk, Latin, salsa, contemporary,
singing, drama, musical theatre and acrobatics.

Dance @ Nikki Webster Australia’s premier performing arts school founded by the talented and accomplished entertainer Nikki Webster and her older brother Scott, who has also achieved a multitude of success in theatres across the country.
Locating suitable premises in the Stanmore area was crucial and the Webster’s searched for several months this year after an initial space was jeopardised. Since January 2008, the public has shown major interest and support for the new studio and Nikki is “extremely excited to be giving back to the youth of Australia.”
The Dance @ Nikki Webster studio boasts two modern and stylish dance studios, with sprung flooring. “I knew I would eventually find an appropriate space and have always wanted to be based in the Stanmore area because there are plenty of schools nearby with lots of young families and there is a lot of demand in the inner west to promote a creative/active lifestyle” says Nikki.
Dance @ Nikki Webster aims to be the breeding ground for Australia’s brightest young stars where they can harness their talents in singing, dance, drama and acrobatics. Nikki believes “the school will offer a creative atmosphere that not only focuses and challenges students, but is also fulfilling and enjoyable.” There are no better role models than the Webster siblings who have both accomplished staggering achievements as musical stars and entertaining sensations.
With the start-up of Dance @ Nikki Webster, Scott and Nikki hope to support talented youngsters with challenging programs and constant encouragement. The highly-skilled instructors of Dance @ Nikki Webster will be teaching a multitude of classes including jazz, tap, ballet, circus, acrobatics, drama, musical theatre and singing. Each session costs only $15, and will be offered during after school hours and all day on Saturdays. Nikki cannot wait for the challenges the new school will bring and “watch the students grow and achieve their dreams.”
Nikki Webster, now 20 years old, was catapulted to global recognition when she flew 8-stories high into the opening of the Sydney Olympics in 2000 in front of 3.7 billion viewers at the tender age of 13. With gold and platinum-selling and Aria nominated albums, Nikki has since cemented herself as an influential force in the world of theatre where she has starred in multi-million dollar productions such as The Wizard of Oz, Les Miserables, The Sound of Music, Hair and Rent.
Scott Webster has pioneered in the entertainment landscape and with a BA in Musical Theatre from the prestigious WAAPA Academy continues to nurture young Australian talents by teaching dance, acrobatics and musical theatre. Scott has also put extensive effort into consolidating dance as a sport through the Australian Sports Commission.
Together, Nikki and Scott aim to assist aspiring performers in their dreams of success, whether it is on the dance floor, on stage or in a recording studio. Through Dance @ Nikki Webster, the Webster siblings will undoubtedly carry on entertaining audiences across the country by educating and supporting Australia’s next generation of rising stars.
